Rivers State To Pay Corps Members N15,000 and N10,000 Stipend respectively

Good news to serving and intending corps members in Rivers State as the State Gov. Nyesom Wike has approved a new and better welfare package for all corps members serving in the State. The Governor made this known in an interview he granted to Channels Television on Easter Monday 28th March, 2015 on the topic: Rivers Politics.

The governor made this known when he was asked his welfare package for corps members in his State considering their efforts in elections despite security threats. According to Wike, “I was just informed last week that the past administration of former Gov. Rotimi Amaechi had been owing corps members for the past two years”.

Gov. Wike expressed sympathy to the plight of the corps members and ordered that their monthly stipend be increased to N15,000 and N10,000 respectively. He also said he has already approved the new payment regime.

Corps members serving in the remote villages in the State will henceforth receive monthly stipend of N15,000, while those serving in the city will as well receive N10,000. This has now placed Rivers State as one of the highest paid State in NYSC scheme.
