153 SACKED LECTURERS: ESUT Accreditation Withdrawn

There is course for worry for the students of Enugu State University of Science and Technology as the information reaching us now reports that the NUC has withdrawn the Instruction's accreditation for many Departments following its alleged sack of 153 lecturers last year.

It was like a drama as ESUT management tagged the recruitment of those lecturers an 'academic fraud', while the affected lecturers on the other hand alleged that ESUT used them to obtain NUC accreditation and quickly dumped them afterwards.

NUC Director of Information and Public Relation, Mallam Ibrahim Yakassai confirmed the withdrawal of accreditation of several faculties and departments of ESUT by NUC. He stated that NUC under the Executive Secretary of Prof Julius Okojie frowns at a situation whereby some Universities hire and sack lecturers immediately after using them get accreditation.

Mallam Yakassai noted that the Commission received many petitions from the dismissed lecturers of Enugu State University of Science and Technology, ESUT.

He said that NUC on February 12, 2016 decided to withdraw the accreditation of Mass Communication, Engineering, Psychology and other departments following series of petitions from the dismissed ESUT lecturers. He further stressed that NUC cannot sit down and watch such an ugly development
